Weekend at SSI

Last weekend we met meme and papa at St. Simons.  Mama had taken the week off so they headed south and made several stops along the way.  On Friday they decided to make SSI their last stop and were gracious enough to let us join them.  It was so nice just to “get away” for a couple of days.  The Village has changed so much since the last time we were there.  There is a new playground, putt putt and pool area that we of course had to try out (with the exception of the pool area).  Afterwards we headed down for some sun and sand……… and a cool breeze.  It is amazing how warm it was on land and then as we crossed over the dunes it was freezing.  Being kids my two headed straight for the water and being the person I am when it comes to freezing water and being cold, I assumed that once their toes touched the wet sand they would come running back.  WRONG!  At one point they were almost knee deep in the water.  They love the beach and are looking forward to the many trips to come once the weather gets warmer.  We enjoyed another dinner with meme and papa before turning in for the night Saturday.  Sunday morning we packed up and headed back to the 4th of May for breakfast again.  They have the best breakfast.  Afterwards, Gene, the kids and myself headed toward Jacksonville.  We stopped by St. Johns Shops and were in awe.  I can’t wait to make a trip back just the two of us.  I could do so much damage if Gene would let me :0)
